February Newsletter

FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team 525 the Swartdogs had a very productive February.  On February 16th, we ran our annual week 0 scrimmage, the Corndog Classic.  This event gives teams the opportunity to test their robots on a full field, go through preliminary inspections, and interact with other teams.  It was fun to see the numerous ways that teams came up with to solve this year’s game.

The next week we demonstrated our robot at the STEM night at our high school.  We demonstrated our 2018 robot and talked with classmates about the opportunities that our team offers.

We set up a display at the Cedar Falls Tourism Center which will be shown through March to promote the Iowa Regional. The display features our 2016 robot and season. 2016 was the first year of the Iowa Regional.

In addition to attending events, our workgroups accomplished a lot throughout February.  The mechanical group finished our competition robot and started working on our practice robot.  The programming group finished the code for our robot. The safety group created a safety presentation and Kahoot to teach our team smart safety practices to apply at the competition and build site.  The business group put the finishing touches on our updated business plan. The awards group submitted our Chairman’s main essay, mini essays, and Woodie Flowers nominations and started working on our presentation and video.  February was a busy and productive month!
