In 2012 we were invited to hold a robot demonstration at the Iowa State Fair and have been participating every since. Each year we showcase our most recent robot and talk to people from around the state about FIRST. We have also partnered with other FRC teams throughout the state to do a larger presentation.
Since 2016 we have helped run the Iowa Regional. Our mentors created and continue to serve on the Iowa Regional planning committee. Each year we help set up the practice field, guide people to the load in, and help clean up. Many of our alumni also come back each year to volunteer in various roles throughout the event. The event includes teams from all over the midwest and world.
A group of students went to our state capitol for the annual STEM day. Our team provided our capitol with information about our PLTW classes, FIRST, and our team history. We also had a robot demonstration with our most recent robot. It was a great opportunity to meet and make connections with a variety of government officials like Governor Kim Reynolds.
