May Newsletter
FIRST Robotics Competition team 525, the Swartdogs, had a fun end of the school year. To start the month of May, we ran a FIRST LEGO League Jr. (FLL Jr.) Expo. 15 team local teams came and exhibited what they learned. They also got the opportunity to see our robot and Cedar Falls school’s FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robots.
The FLL Jr. Expo was held at our school’s ELP Extravaganza (Talented and Gifted program fair). We demonstrated our robot at the fair for students and their families and to recruit new members.
We also went to Hansen Elementary, one of our local elementary schools, to demonstrate our robot for their fourth grade classes. The fourth graders had visited the Iowa Regional, became excited by the robots, and wanted to learn more. As a result, we brought our robot to their school to demonstrate, told them more about FRC, and explained the opportunities that they currently have to join FIRST LEGO League (FLL).
At the end of May, we held our end of the year team party. We invited our families to come, eat food, and help us celebrate everything that our team accomplished this year.
