FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team 525 had a very busy end of the year.

In December, our team ran the Cedar Falls FLL Regional Qualifier and FLL Jr. Expo.  This year’s event was extra special because it was the tenth year that we have hosted the Regional Qualifier.  This was also the sixth year that we have hosted the FLL Jr. Expo.  As one of our biggest events of the year, all team members were involved, volunteering in the various positions needed in order for this day to run smoothly.  On the Friday night before, we set up the entire building, getting it ready for the teams.  Then, on Saturday, the day of the actual event, we volunteered by queuing matches, running concession, demonstrating our robot, selling pizza, monitoring judging hallways, and controlling practice tables.  We also made signs wishing all of the FLL and FLL Jr. teams a fun-filled, exciting day and thanking the volunteers for all of their hard work.  After all of the judging sessions and robot matches were over, we gave a presentation to the teams.  This presentation introduced them to FRC.  We also demonstrated our 2017 robot and talked about what it does.  At the end of the day, we helped tear down and cleaned up.  Overall, we worked to make sure that this was a fun, memorable day for all of the FLL and FLL Jr. teams involved.  We lead by example, showing Gracious Professionalism to the teams with the goal of them doing the same to others.

Finally, to end the year, we hosted another FLL Jr. Expo.  As some of the teams within the Cedar Falls School District were not able to participate in a FLL Jr. Expo earlier in the year, we wanted them to have a chance to participate in an Expo without having to travel very far.  As a result, we hosted another Expo.  At this expo, we served as student ambassadors for the teams and demonstrated our robot.  Along with our team, two FTC teams also demonstrated their robots.

Overall, FRC team 525 had an amazing end of the year and as we reflect on 2017, we cannot wait to see what 2018 has in store for all of us.
