Back to School Newsletter

Right before school began, we demonstrated our robots to recruit new students at both of our junior high schools’ back to school nights. Back to school night is where students meet their teachers on a night before the first day of school and learn about the organizations that they can join. FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams also came to recruit students to join FTC.

We showcased our robot and program at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) to in an effort to recruit students to mentor our team. UNI had a night where local FTC and FRC teams were invited to talk to students about what FIRST is and the opportunities of mentoring a team. We brought our robot to show them what we work on and talked to them about the non-technical aspects of the team.

We held an orientation night for all of the new FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and FIRST LEGO League Jr. (FLL Jr.) coaches in our school district. We gave a presentation about what the programs are, registering, and organizing the team.

On September 8, we assisted with Park-to-Park Race which is put on by Trekman Racing. Despite the flooding, we volunteered with parking, food, handing out medals, clean up and where ever else they needed help to make the race happen.
