Wow! Another amazing weekend. Teamed with 967 and 3642 to WIN the 10,000 Lakes Regional. This trip started out on a sad note as our Team Leader, Mr. Swartley hurt his back and was unable to attend this regional. This would have been his 20th consecutive regional. Luckily, the team found an able teacher (who had previously mentored on the team) to fill in as the teacher going with. We also were missing our human player for this trip. We spent Thursday, letting some backup players play and rotated several human players. A replacement human player was decided on and the team was ready to go. By Friday night, we were ranked 1st and had played 7 solid matches. We were able to use the double ubertube program several times. We were teamed up with many good robots during the qualifications as well as some old friends ( we won here in 2008 with Team 93, and were paired with them on a Saturday qualification match).
Friday night, we posted all fo our scouting data on our webiste so other teams would have the opportunity to use it if they desired. The program was an Ipod Touch application written by one of our previous team members. It was well received.
We ended qualifications ranked #1. Our alliance consisted of the #2 ranked robot, Team 967 from Lin-Mar (Cedar Rapids). We had a practice scrimmage with them earlier in the season. Our third member was Team 3642, a rookie team coached by a previous Team 525 member and the son of the teacher who filled in for Mr. Swartley!
As always the matches were exciting. The double ubertube was fantastic. Great alliance. I heard later that a lot of previous Team 525 members were watching live.
