A copy of an email from an FTC parent:
Congratulations to Team 6420, The SabreHOOF Tigers! They, along with their alliance partner, Team 3608: RoboctoPi, from Oskalooska, won 1st place in the regional qualifier in Ankeny. The Tigers went 5-1 for the qualifying matches and ended up in 3rd place overall. They were selected as the first alliance partner by the RoboctoPi. The two teams worked great together during the semi-finals and finals.
They now advace to the FTC Iowa State Chamionships in Iowa City on Feb. 23, 2013, so mark the date on your calendar. It will be a great event! I will send out more info as the date gets closer.
FTC6420 also won the Rockwell Collins Innovation award for their awesome robot design. They had the only robot at the event today that could correctly sense which of the rings were the heavy rings. They have a great robot and it performed exceptionally well today. The last match was won with the ring basket held together with zip ties after the Lego piece holding it broke in half. Great MacGyvering, team! It hung lots and lots of rings today. I didn’t count, but I think it hung more rings than almost any other robot. Great work 6420!!!
A big THANK YOU! goes out to the great mentors! You are all awesome!
The next FTC competition will be on January 26th, 2013, in Ottumwa. I will send out more information on this event as we get closer. Hopefully, I will be able to give you all more advance notice for the live stream.
You can also follow the SabreHOOF Tigers on Twitter: @FTC6420. Check out the pictures of the trophies. Great job on the updates today, Goobey!
Once again, great job students and mentors!
